IBS Career Development Centre Hosts Insightful Cyber Security Session

The IBS Career Development Centre successfully conducted an engaging and informative Cyber Security Awareness Session on Wednesday, 16 July 2025, at the Tim Berners-Lee Laboratory, IBSUniversity. The session was led by Ms. Valli Ramamurthy and Mr. Victor Bogalin, Senior Lecturers from the IBSU School of Information Technology, and was attended by a vibrant group of students eager to enhance their digital awareness and career readiness.
As technology becomes increasingly central to education, work, and communication, the importance of understanding cyber threats and safe digital practices cannot be overstated. This session was specifically tailored to introduce students to the fundamentals of cyber security and to provide practical knowledge that will help them protect both personal and institutional data.
Key topics covered during the session included:
- Common types of cyberattacks and how to recognize them
- The importance and implementation of two-step authentication
- Introduction to network security and data protection
- Career pathways in cybersecurity, including CISCO Certification levels
Ms. Ramamurthy and Mr. Bogalin brought theoretical insights and real-world examples, making the session both engaging and applicable. Students actively participated throughout, asking questions and sharing personal experiences related to online safety.
Feedback from participants was highly positive. Attendees appreciated the clarity of the presentation and the relevance of the content to their academic and professional journeys.
